Announcement

You are invited to a CCICADA-wide research retreat on March 7-8 at Morgan State University in Baltimore. Registration information appears below and we strongly encourage all graduate students associated with CCICADA to participate and submit abstracts for presentations and posters.

The first CCICADA-wide retreat will start after lunch on Sunday, March 7, and go all day on Monday, March 8. The goal is to bring together everyone doing research in CCICADA.

The retreat will be hosted by our partners at Morgan State University in Baltimore and will precede the DHS University Programs Summit, which starts in Washington, DC on March 9 with a student day and follows with other programs from March 10-12. We have scheduled the retreat so that a large CCICADA contingent can combine the two events. (The DHS Summit showcases all the Centers of Excellence, and often has an interesting floor show of demos and even hardware systems to look at -- from robots that look under cars to things that sniff for chemicals and drugs.)

A program committee consisting of Ed Hovy, Bill Pottenger, and Dan Roth is planning the retreat program. As a minimum, we want to offer all students working on CCICADA projects the opportunity to make a short presentation about your work. Selected other presentations will be made, and there will be lots of time for interaction. More details about the program will be forthcoming and the program committee will be happy to get your suggestions.

Our partners at Morgan State have reserved a block of rooms at the Radisson Cross Keys Hotel in Baltimore at a special rate of $99 to $109. Information about how to make a reservation will be forthcoming, as will information about transfers to/from the airport, hotel, campus, train station. We will put all information up on the CCICADA website at http://www.archive.ccicada.org/, under the tab Conferences and Workshops.

Please register on the Registration Page for the retreat as soon as possible so we can get a count of how many people are coming.

Everyone in CCICADA is strongly encouraged to submit a description of their work. Please send the following information NO LATER THAN FEB. 24 to [email protected]:

For the first three, include an abstract that states:

We are looking forward to seeing you all at the CCICADA Retreat!
